Madison Team for Canada in Beijing

June 24, 2008 – While not yet officially announced Canada will get a spot for a Madison Team at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and is currently in the process of deciding on the team selection according to reliable sources. As we mentioned during the recent Pan Am Road and Track Championships in Uruguay in May, the possibility of last minute openings for the Games, while a long shot, is a reality if extra spots become available or countries can’t meet their quotas.

Canada’s Zach Bell is a sure bet for Canada’s Madison Team for the Games as he’ll be competing at the Points race in Beijing and the remaining riders on the short list to partner with him are Svein Tuft, Martin Gilbert and Ryan Mckenzie. There’s a strong likelihood of an appeal no matter who is selected – a decision is expected soon.
