May 28, 2005 — 500 school age riders competed Friday May 27th at the Louis Garneau 2005 Ontario High School MTB Championships hosted by Hardwood Hills.
This year brought out record numbers with almost 100 elementary kids racing, and 175 racers is the Junior Boys category alone! There were 110 different schools represented including a contingent from Thunder Bay, making it a true Provincial Championships.
2005 has seen huge growth with many regional high school series starting, and more in the plan for next year.
Many thanks to all the teachers and coaches for continuing to push the system to recognize and promote cycling as a lifetime sport for the kids to learn and enjoy.
