Lori-Ann Muenzer Lends Helping Hand to Canadian Troops in Afghanistan

February 2, 2005 (Toronto, ON and Edmonton, AB) – Lori-Ann Muenzer, 2004 Olympic Gold medallist in cycling, will be attending the Guthrie School in Lancaster Park, AB (Edmonton Garrison) on Friday, February 3rd, 2006 to speak to kids, parents, teachers and friends of the more than 2,000 deployed troops currently in war-torn Afghanistan where the mission has changed from peace-keeping to fighting forces..

Lori-Ann’s role is two-fold. She is committed to speaking to school children each and every month to encourage them to set goals, live their dreams and be the best they can be. Secondly, she decided to speak at the Edmonton Garrison, where hundreds of families, especially the children, are dealing with the strain of having a parent deployed to a war zone, and Lori-Ann felt they needed some support, structure and visibility, so the rest of Canada has a full appreciation of these troops’ sacrifice for the country.

Location and Time:
Lori-Ann will be speaking from 2:00pm – 3:00pm at the following location:
Guthrie School Box 299 Lancaster Park, AB T0A 2H0

The principal of the school, Mr. Henry Fiege, and the Counsellor, Audrey Burrows are also available for interviews.
