March 15, 2017 (Milton, ON) – All eyes will be on legendary frame builder Giuseppe Marinoni this August as he goes for his second hour record triumph on Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton, Ontario.
Fans can enjoy the amazing story of his life in the film Marinoni: The Fire in the Frame by Tony Girardin the evening before to set the stage for his Best Hour Record attempt.
In October 2012, Marinoni , founder of Cycles Marinoni, set the 75-79 age group Best Hour Record at the Montichiari Velodrome in Montichiari, Italy.
Marinoni, who was 75 years old at the time of his record attempt, was born outside of Milan in 1937. During his record attempt in 2012, Marinoni rode 35.728km, breaking the previous record of 33km.
Now 80 years old, Marinoni is preparing for his next hour challenge; the 80-84 UCI Masters Best Hour Record. Set in 2015 by 81-year-old British rider Walter Fowler at the Newport Velodrome, the record currently stands at 35.772km.Stay tuned to Pedal for more updates.
