August 16, 2006 – Floyd Landis’ father-in-law, David Witt, has been found dead in his car in a parking lot in North Park, San Diego.

According to cyclingnews.com a San Diego independent TV station KUSI has reported that Floyd Landis’ father-in-law, 57 year-old David Witt, died of a gunshot wound yesterday afternoon. Witt was found shortly after 3:00pm and was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy will be performed shortly and the cause of death was not disclosed.

Witt was close friends with Landis and it is not clear whether Landis’ recent doping affair played any role in Witt’s apparent suicide. For the complete story on cyclingnews click
