August 14, 2007 (Toronto, ON) – I just wanted to let you know my film, KLUNKERZ, will have it’s Canadian Premiere in Toronto with The Bicycle Film Festival on Sat. August 25 at 3:00pm at The Royal 608 College Street West in Toronto.
KLUNKERZ is the history of the modern mountain bike focusing on the years 1968-1983 in the San Francisco Bay Area. The documentary is packed with vintage footage and photos of the 1960s and 1970s off-road scene, which eventually became mountain biking. The film stars all the usual suspects of the mountain bike industry, and the more obscure characters that influenced them.
The film has been playing at many major U.S. festivals including Mill Valley, X-Dance, Durango, Santa Barbara, Newport Beach, Big Bear, Mount Shasta, and more.
KLUNKERZ has been nominated for many awards including Best Documentary and Emerging Filmmaker awards at the X-Dance Action Sports Awards in Sundance, UT. I presented one of the stars of the film, Gary Fisher, with a Lifetime Achievement award there, too. The film also won Best Documentary at the Durango, CO film festival.
The tour has really been a blast so far, and it’s only picking up steam. Many members of the cast have been appearing at the screenings, so you never know who’s gonna show. Please check out www.klunkerz.com for more info, and don’t forget to sign the ‘guest book’. You can also puchase tickets for the screening there…
