Jocelyn Lovell Celebration of Life

June 17, 2016 (Mississauga, ON) – On Sunday, June 12 a Celebration of Life was held at the home of Jocelyn and Neil Lovell to commemorate and pay tribute to the man who put Canada on the global cycling map and changed the shape of the sport across the country for years to come.

Jos was a force to be reckoned with both on and off the bike and the gathering of family friends, teammates, peers and associates included many of Canada’s cycling luminaries such as Steve Bauer, Gord Singleton, Sylvia Burka and Curt Harnett along with statesman like Guiseppe Marinoni from Montreal.

On a sunny afternoon by the lake, they paid homage to the gifted rider who got it done in his own backyard and on the world stage. With 35 national titles to his name, Lovell also won six Commonwealth Games medals including four golds, a silver medal at the Track Worlds, and two golds at the Pan Am Games setting records along the way as well.

He paved the way for those who dared to follow and as the memories of his heyday were regaled once again it’s hoped that the legacy of his stellar career will live on.
