February 2, 2011 – The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to sport excellence is seeking a National Sport Federation (NSF) Services Director. The deadline to apply is February 28, 2011. The overall purpose of this position is to provide added-value services to member National Sport Federation (NSFs) leadership outside the scope of sport technical with the objective of assisting NSFs become/remain world class sport organizations. These services, are broad and customised in nature, are designed to optimize NSF organizational capacity and to create synergies and economies of scale amongst NSFs to achieve common objectives. This position is primarily responsible for the day-to-day liaison between the COC and the NSF Executive Directors/CEOs.

This position would be of interest to individuals with previous NSF Executive Director/CEO experience. Working in partnership with appropriate partners, primary responsibilities and priorities for this position include:

– Development and implementation of NSF CEO/President Mentor Program;
– Development and implementation of a strategy for sharing of NSF best practices;
– Development of a Menu of Services and Network of Experts;
– Development of a COC Engagement/Outreach plan with NSFs;
– Staff Liaison with the COC Sport Partner Relations Committee;
– Lead the execution of workshops at COC Session meetings;
– Assist in the creation of an advocacy plan on behalf of NSF(s);
– Act as a resource to NSFs Executive Directors/CEOs;
– Assist in the development of a business plan that has NSFs share in back-of-house support (based on a win-win outcome);
– Work with Director, Olympic Preparation and Directors, Team Operations to develop Games related “preparation plan” for NSF EDs/CEOs;
– Assist in the development and lead the execution of an NSF at-Games Services plan;
– Assist CEO and EMD, Sport and NSF Relations in the area of NSF Relations.
– Other duties as assigned by the EMD, Sport & NSF Relations

This Ottawa based position would report directly to the Executive Managing Director, Sport & NSF Relations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS
– University Degree in a sport management field; Masters Degree preferable;
– Minimum 7 years in High Performance Sport Management including the CEO/ED level;
– Desired proficiency in PowerPoint and Word;
– Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively;
– Familiarity and proven ability to build/maintain relationships with the national sport community;
– Excellent planning, follow through, and Time Management skills; and
– Self-motivated, creative team player.

Bilingualism would be a significant asset in this position.

Job Description:
Bilingual Receptionist / Operations Assistant

The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to high-performance sports excellence. We are the largest private supporter of high performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.

Preference will be given to candidates who have a background in high performance sport. Reporting to the Executive Assistant to the CEO, the candidate will be required to perform the following key functions:

Core Responsibilities and Priorities:
Reception
“¢ Act as first point of contact for all incoming guests,
“¢ Answer all incoming calls and redirecting to the appropriate COC member or responding to enquiries, as needed

Operations Administration
“¢ Provide administrative support to the Director, Finance;
“¢ Assist in arranging committee and management meetings;
“¢ Assist with the preparation and distribution of meeting materials;
“¢ Code invoices for approval;
“¢ Route and file various documents;
“¢ Draft and proofread correspondence, and
“¢ Provide back up support to CEO/COO assistants as needed.

General Office Administration
“¢ Prepare courier packages for overnight or same day delivery;
“¢ Provide minor translations, as required;
“¢ Receive, open and distribute incoming courier packages and mail;
“¢ Monitor and order all office supplies;
“¢ Oversee maintenance of office equipment;
“¢ Oversee maintenance of common areas including reception area, boardrooms and kitchen;
“¢ Coordinate boardroom bookings including catering needs and ensure room set-up, as required; and
“¢ Manage office storage for all departments;
“¢ Liaise with building management company regarding maintenance issues.

Other
“¢ Maintain physical and electronic inventory of video, CD and book library;
“¢ Participate in administration/coordination meetings, as scheduled; and
“¢ Special projects as may be assigned.

March 4, 2008 – The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to sport excellence is seeking a Director, Finance based in its Toronto office. Reporting to the Executive Director of Operations, the Director of Finance, acting as controller for the Canadian Olympic Committee and the Canadian Olympic Foundation (COF), will:

– Oversee the Finance function through effective management support, financial planning and budgeting, internal/external reporting, internal and cost control, cash management, risk management and government reporting.

– Oversee the Information Systems function to ensure that solutions for all areas of the organization are identified and available technologies are evaluated and fully utilized in support of the strategic direction of the COC and COF.

– Monitor the management of the COC’s Investment Funds to minimize risk to COC.

Qualifications:
– CMA/CGA/CA designation
– Minimum 5-7 years experience relevant experience as a Senior Accounting Manager / Controller in a mid sized business or more preferably, in a not for profit or foundation environment
– Advanced knowledge of and experience with Information Technology and related Information Management Systems
– Strong leadership and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to think strategically and “outside of the box”
– Advanced knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and donation receipting guidelines
– Advanced ACCPAC and MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
– Specific experience in adding value to the Finance function and developing new business processes
– Excellent communication skills, verbal and written ? Bilingualism and an enthusiasm for sport is an asset
