The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to sport excellence is seeking a full-time Manager, Olympic Preparation.

MANAGER, OLYMPIC PREPARATION
The overall purpose of this position is to develop and implement customized Olympic Podium Preparation (OPPP) programs for both the summer and winter Olympic Games by working closely with National Sport Federation partners.

This position would be of interest to Olympic athletes or coaches and/or individuals who have significant experience within the Canadian Sport system at the high performance level, along with:

“¢ Understanding, recognition and respect for the roles, responsibilities and pressures of athletes, coaches and NSFs; and
“¢ A commitment to continuing to strengthen the relationship with athletes, coaches and NSFs in order to achieve Olympic Podium success.

The position would report directly to the Director, Olympic Preparation.

Bilingualism would be a considerable asset in this position.

COORDINATOR, OLYMPIC PREPARATION

The overall purpose of this position is to work from the direction of the Managers of Olympic Preparation and in concert with the other Coordinator of Olympic Preparation to implement and coordinate all aspects of the COC’s Olympic Podium Performance Preparation (OPPP) programs by working closely with COC staff and National Sport Federation (NSF) partners.

The primary areas of responsibility for this position include, but are not limited to:

Olympic Podium Performance Preparation (OPPP)
“¢ Assist in implementing NSF Olympic Preparation progress reports;
“¢ Work with NSFs on a regular basis in coordinating the implementation of OPPP initiatives that meets NSF requirements for Olympic podium success;

Familiarization
“¢ Coordinate all logistical arrangements for venue and site familiarization visits to host city;

Excellence Series and Seminars
“¢ To coordinate all logistics pertaining to delivery of excellence series contents;
“¢ To coordinate all logistics pertaining to delivery of preparation Seminar contents;
“¢ To coordinate all logistics pertaining to delivery of Team Orientation Sessions contents;

Pre-Games Training Camps
“¢ Assist in the coordination of all logistics pertaining to COC service/operations at pre-Games training camps;

Team Selection
“¢ Review and research IOC, International Federation (IF), and Organizing Committee, Olympic Games (OCOG) policies, rules and regulations regarding all aspects of participation at Olympic and Pan Am Games;
“¢ Monitor all IF and NSF qualification relevant to Canadian participation at Games;
“¢ Assist in the development of team size estimates;
“¢ Assist in providing recommendations for Pan Am Games quotas;
“¢ Coordinate the establishment of NSF/COC Team Selection Agreements;
“¢ Coordinate, monitor and document status of coaches with respect to COC Coaches Selection Policy;
“¢ Prepare selection material for COC Team Selection Committee;

At-Games Support
“¢ Coordinate sport entries for OCOG on behalf of COC and NSFs;
“¢ Lead COC Games results of Canadians and daily schedule monitoring of Canadians;
“¢ Liaise with administrator of COC website to integrate results and Games related information on COC site; Coordinate completion of COC final post-games report;

Other
“¢ Assist Manager, Olympic Preparation wherever necessary

Knowledge and Skill Required:

Applicant must have:
“¢ Understanding, recognition and respect for the role, responsibility and pressure on athletes, coaches and NSFs;
“¢ Commitment to continuing to strengthen the relationship with athletes, coaches and NSFs in order to achieve Olympic Podium Success;
“¢ Basic understanding of Canadian Sport System; and
“¢ Basic understanding of IOC and IF Rules and Regulations

July 14, 2006 – The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to sport excellence is seeking a full-time Manager, Events in its Toronto office.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Marketing and Communications, the Manager, Events will:

“¢ Work with the Executive Director, Marketing and Communications to ensure that all events are strategically aligned to evolving long term stakeholder plans.
“¢ Manage and execute COC Signature Events such as Annual Congress, Golf Tournaments, etc.
“¢ Develop, manage and execute regional fundraising events (approximately 8-10 per year).
“¢ Responsible for the general management of Canada Olympic House during Olympic Games years, including planning, development, staffing and execution.
“¢ Manage overall events budget.

Qualifications: minimum five years’ event management experience in a supervisory capacity; excellent communications and leadership skills; strong problem-solving, decision-making and management skills with the ability to respond effectively to changing environments; familiarity with the Canadian high performance sport system. Bilingualism an asset. Background as a high performance athlete or Olympian an asset.

MANAGER, SPORT SCIENCE AND MEDICINE PROGRAMS

ADVERTISEMENT This position has been created and is being funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage (Sport Canada), the Canadian Paralympic Committee and the Canadian Olympic Committee. Its current reporting structure, within the COC, is temporary until such time as a high performance technical entity for Summer and Winter sports is created by the funding partners

The position’s central mandate is:

1. To provide leadership in the creation, delivery and assessment of an aligned and integrated national sport science and medicine program in support of Canadian high performance sport. This will include the coordination and assessment of Canadian Sport Centres’ and National Sport Federations’ high performance sport science and sport medicine programs.

Responsibilities will focus on programs that support athletes/ training groups/teams and their coaches in Olympic, Paralympic and Pan-American sports targeted by Own The Podium (OTP) and the Canadian Sport Review Panel (CSRP). Through a new Performance Enhancement program (PEP), Performance Enhancement Teams (PETs) comprised of groups of applied experts in the various sport science and medicine disciplines will support NSF programs that can lead to Olympic and world championship podium finishes.

The position would report directly to the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Senior Director, Olympic Programming – Technical

Bilingualism would be a considerable asset in this position.
