Janet O’Connell Resigns as Executive Director of Bicycle Trade Association of Canada

March 01, 2012 (Toronto, ON) – The Bicycle Trade Association of Canada (BTAC) announces today the after eleven successful years in her position as Executive Director of BTAC, Ms. Janet O’Connell has resigned from the association.  Leaving to pursue personal interests Janet will remain at the helm of BTAC until October 1, 2012.

Since its move to independence in 2000 Janet has been in the role of Executive Director, during her tenure BTAC has grown from a start-up organization to the national voice for Canada’s cycling trade.  BTAC’s members and partners have grown to include independent bicycle dealers, manufacturers, distributors, and, advocacy groups in Canada. Today BTAC is a leader in Canada supplying Cycling Industry Research, Grant programs, Advocacy Partnerships, while continuing the success of ExpoCycle.  Under her guidance ExpoCycle has seen healthily growth to become the largest bicycle trade show in Canada and a vital part of the cycling trades business.

On behalf of the Board Kevin Senior stated that “We are very proud of what Janet has accomplished in her time as Executive Director and we want to thank her for all her efforts and wish her continued success in her future endeavors. The Board of Directors and Janet will be working on a transition plan”.

“It has been a great eleven years for me at BTAC, starting from the ground up I have had the opportunity to build a successful organization and gain some great friends along the way.  I would like to thank the Board for their support in this transition of leadership and I look forward to seeing everyone at ExpoCycle this year”, commented O’Connell.

ExpoCycle will take place September 8-10 in Toronto at the Direct Energy Centre.
