release by the Smart Savvy+ Garneau U23 Team

August 04, 2017 (Vancouver, BC) – As the Smart Savvy+ Garneau U23 Cycling Team heads into the 4th season of operations, we are excited about a new step in our athlete development model. We are collaborating with the several groups to help us in hosting our inaugural Fall Training Camp, which will serve as a try out for the 2018 team. Over the past 3 seasons, we have established ourselves as one of the top male National Trade teams in Canada, and we strive towards improving with excellence each year.

Our mandate is to provide world class racing development for U23 male athletes, and we feel that the next progression for our program is to host our first ever training camp to help us in identifying the group of athletes for our program.

Cyclists are invited to attend the training camp as a step in their long term athlete development in the sport of cycling, and create an opportunity to be selected for our team in 2018. The training camp will provide leadership development, skills assessment, team building, networking as well as group rides and race simulations.

After the training camp we will enter into discussions with our current athletes and prospective new athletes; to talk about a contract for 2018. As we build steps of excellence into our program, one of the new requirements for racing with the team in 2018 will be for each contracted member to attend the “Build Your Brand” course offered by Zach Bell’s Parcours Institute later in the winter.

The combination of a U23 team try out, in partnership with the Parcours Institute is an industry leading concept and will help shape the development of young cyclists in Canada. We are excited to host the next wave of espoir cyclists that Canada has to offer, and work with them in developing to the pro level. We invite all U23 Canadian cyclists who are serious about the next level in the sport, to spend this important extended weekend with us, to take the next steps in your career development as a road bike racer!
