November 06, 2014 – Pedal caught up with Canadian road racer Karol-Ann Canuel at the recent FQSC awards on Nov. 2 in Bromont, QC where she was honoured to receive the award feminine athlète par excellence for becoming the first Canadian to ever win a world title in road cycling as part of the Specialized-lululemon team that won the Elite Women’s team time trial (TTT) at the Road Worlds in Spain.

Canuel tells us about changes to her team for next year and reflects on her 2014 season, where she achieved sixth in the Individual Time Trial at the Road Worlds in September despite some prior major injuries that saw her break her neck and suffer a concussion early in the season. During the Elite women’s road race that followed she was caught up in an unfortunate crash that took out a huge portion of the peloton including two of her teammates as she suffered a broken pelvis – but she’s healed up well and looks forward to next season.
