Interbike 2012 – Day 2 Report and Photos

September 25, 2012 (Las Vegas, NV) – The annual Interbike bicycle tradeshow continued at the Sands Convention Centre in Las Vegas, with exhibitors displaying the latest and greatest cycling goodies for 2013. Pedal was on site to wade through thousands of products and highlight the most exciting biking bits coming soon to your local shop…

Lezyne was beaming with pride over their new line of LED’s, the Mega Drive and Micro Drive. The Mega is an all Aluminum CNC sculpted unit with two LED’s pushing out 1,000 lumens. It’s Infinite Light Design allows you to open the rear cap for battery replacement and USB recharging.  An intelligent Power indicator button lets you check power levels during use an gives the option of three modes, Enduro: 500 lumens, Blast 1,000 lumens, and Economy(flash) 200 lumens.

The Micro LED tail light has been designed for Daytime visibility. Features include side visibility with 180 degrees view, and either a regular 30 lumen (night) flash or highly-visible 70 lumen Day Flash.

For 2013 Rudy Project is introducing the Diamonds Artist Series sunglasses that have been designed with Swarovski crystals. The series features an edgy skull design and a black finish, with Rudy Project Hypermask crystals on the pieces. Included in the Series are the Hypermask Performance sunglass, DeeWhy sunglass and the Wingspan aero helmet. The “Be Seen, Live to Ride Another Day” program features Rudy Project helmets with highly visible Pink and Yellow coloured shell along with an all black version with bling.

Also new are two new models including the Stratofly, functional and stylish riding glasses that come in eight colour options, and the Spaceguard, the newest wrap-around, single lens sport sunglasses, which are feather-light and durable. The Spaceguard weighs in at less than an ounce and comes in eight colour combinations.

Pinarello is about to turn the mountain bike upside down, with the introduction of their ONDA XC asymmetric frame technology into an off-road frame. This unique, eye-catching system separates the seat stays vertically and laterally, providing vibration dissipation across a larger surface area while providing an unrivaled level of comfort in a hard tail.

The ForkStopper on the underside of the downtube offers frame protection from fork impact and the clean internal cable routing is another highlight on the DogmaXC 29er. This 29er is not an All-Mountain bike by any means – its built for purpose and that purpose is SPEED!

Next year Park Tools celebrates its 50th anniversary and owner, Eric Hawkins, poses with the two bike stands that launched the company 50 years ago. The original stand was put together using legs from a dining room table, an empty shell casing and a truck axle from a 37 Ford.

Legendary sprint superstar, Mario Cipollini (l), and Vitto Barbera of B1 Group, the North American distributor of MCipollini Bikes, take five for a brief photo opp in front of Cipollini’s booth featuring their uber cool rides including the RB1000, the RB800, the Logos, the Speed and the all new Bond.

The Tactic Carbon series is Norco’s top of the line carbon roadie replacing the CRR line. Developed with feedback from team HR Block, the 6.86kg Tactic is sleeker, stronger, stiffer – and more comfortable – featuring a “power chassis” for sprinting and climbing prowess.

Italian based ProLogo has added a high tech angle to their saddle and glove line with the introduction of CPC – Connect Power Control. CPC offers vibration and shock absorption, cooling and incredible grip via a series of nano-structured shock absorbers integrated into each product. The volcano shaped nano-elastic polymer provides an almost suction cup like feel and prevents slipping on the saddle and gloves, in any weather conditions. Power output and control in the saddle are unsurpassed and saddle sores a thing of the past.

Argon’s Gallium Pro offers light weight, rigidity, and comfort in a 7000 HM Carbon composite frame. AFS (advanced fit system) geometry ensures an easy, accurate fit and optimized rider position for riders of all shapes and sizes. Three 3D headtube system offers three headtube heights without sacrificing stiffness.

Massive asymmetric chainstays and bulk BB provide a stiffness and efficient power transfer to the drivetrain, and upper carbon layouts provide vibration damping and comfort – known as Argon 18’s HDS (Horizontal Dual System). The Gallium Pro is compatible with Di2, EPS or mechanical components.

The new 2013 DH Saint features a Freeza rotor with Shimano’s ICE Technology… very cool and built on the world-class braking offered by XT and XTR. The new brakes feature ergonomically enhanced levers, tool-free lever adjustment, adjustable free stroke and are I-Spec-compatible. The brakes feature a super-stiff three-layer brake whose connected to calipers equipped with four pistons for the ultimate in consistent and powerful braking

DT Swiss rolls with the rebels with their new M1700 Spline, a 650B wheelset with butted straight pull spokes that are laced between star ratchet Spline hubs and sleeved 650b rims. At 1,775 grams these 650B’s a primed for All Mountain/Trail riding but also excel at XC and Enduro. Working with SRAM the M1700 also features a freewheel compatible with 11 speed XX1.

Timex’s Cycle Trainer 2.0 is an ANT+ GPS computer that adds a dashboard to your bars. Five screens of real-time data are fed via GPS onto five custom screens. Features include heart rate sensor, and optional ANT+ bike and power sensors to track performance. Barometric Altimeter and Temperature sensors, INDIGLO night-light, and rechargeable LI-Ion battery with 18 hour run in full GPS mode are other highlights.
