Interbike 2011 Day One – Kulhavy’s Specialized S-Works Epic 29er, Focus, Schwalbe, 2XU, Lake, Lezyne

September 16, 2011 (Las Vegas, NV) – It’s Interbike 2011 and once again the cycling world including media from around the globe flooded into the Sands Convention Centre in Las Vegas to peruse all that’s hot for the 2012 season. Meanwhile, Vegas is flooding due to three days of rain and thunder storms – a first for Interbike. But it’s not enough to put a damper on this year’s massive annual bicycle trade show. Hundred of companies and thousands of products are on display – here some highlights of what’s coming soon to a bike shop near you…

Specialized S-Works Epic 29er SRAM
Jaroslav Kulhavy won the Elite Men’s XC UCI MTB World Championships aboard the S-Works Epic 29er, pictured here. The Epic 29er features Super-light FACT IS 11m full carbon frame with dedicated 29er geometry, PF30 BB, sealed cartridge bearing pivots and 142mm dropouts. This model is equipped with SRAM’s XX component group and SRAM’s Black Box project – 10-speed Grip Shift. Watch for Grip Shift to makes its 10-speed debut at a store near you early next year.

Focus
For 2012 the Focus road lines are highlighted by the Izalco Ergo, the women’s Izalco Donna, and the Cayo Evo. The Cayo Evo 2.0 is a new take on a Carbon classic, and has been transformed into a full-on racing machine. The new Cayo Evo’s features include elegant lines, internal cable routing, and a re-engineered rear triangle. The Evo 2.0 frame has been designed for Di2 only and features full Ultegra, along with Fulcrum Racing 5 wheels.

Schwalbe Tires
Schwalbe has heard the big wheel masses calling for a winter 29er and they have answered. Introducing the 29er Ice Spiker Pro. The latest Ice Spiker features 402 spikes in a black skin, 29 x 2.25 sized, tubless ready tire. This 890g 29er offers the same tungsten carbide core spikes clad in weight saving aluminium, to bite firmly into icy roads and trails.

2XU
2XU Compression now offers three distinct categories – Perform, EForm, and Refresh – which focus on active use or recovery to meet every athlete’s demand. The line offers extremely powerful and durable compression garments engineered to optimize circulation and heighten oxygen delivery. With graduated engineering and rigid knit construction, all garments are ideal for high performance athletic recovery.

Lake Shoes
On display from Lake were the CX331 (road) and the MX331 (mountain) cycling shoes. They feature a brand new, super stiff carbon sole with a kangaroo leather upper and new Boa lace system. Both models have an eSoles insole as standard and come with a competitive price of $365 for a 245g shoe (size 44).

Lezyne LED Lights
2012 is looking bright for Lezyne with their affordable options for people who want to take their bike off city streets with a new line of LED lights. The Super Drive, Power Drive, and Mini Drive offer 450, 300, & 150 lumens respectively with an affordable price tag ranging from $69.99 to $109.99.
