February 25, 2006 – Clara Hughes, who won two bronze medals in cycling at the 1996 Olympic Summer Games (Road, ITT), has won Olympic gold in the 5000m long track speed skating competition in Torino, Italy. Teammate Cindy Klassen took the bronze medal in the same event. Hughes also confirmed that she will continue training and competing for the 2010 Winter Olympiad in Vancouver, BC.
