Ontario’s MacKinnon was the first rider on course, as a cyclist from Trinidad did not start, and set the best early check point times, with Prado taking over until Houle smashed all times. At the finish Mackinnon’s time was solid but Prado came in about 20s faster. Then Quebec’s Houle, the reigning Canadian Elite Men’s champ, took no prisoners as he finished over a minute up on Prado for the gold.
With Houle and MacKinnon’s podiums, along with Jasmine Glaesser’s silver in the Women’s ITT earlier in the day cycling has now contributed 17 medals overall, bringing new meaning and lustre to #canuckup… and just in time for Cycling Canada’s #hoponcanada campaign.
