Hondo Returns To Competition April 1

March 28, 2006 – Referring to the order by a Swiss Court to suspend the judgement of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) setting a two year suspension to Danilo Hondo, the UCI informs that the German rider will be able to resume competition on 1st April 2006. On first instance, Danilo Hondo had been suspended for one year (from 1st April 2005 to 31st March 2006) by Swiss Cycling after having tested positive for Carphedon during the Vuelta Ciclista in Murcia on 3 and 4 March 2005.

After this period, the rider will thus be eligible, according to the UCI Regulations, to resume his activity in all the races of the UCI’s calendar.

The UCI reminds nevertheless that the UCI ProTeams’ position with respect to any rider implied in a doping case also follows from the Code of conduct signed by said ProTeams and not only from the UCI Regulations.
