January 27, 2016 (Toronto, ON) – Hilary Holden, Toronto’s Director of Transit & Sustainable Transportation, was recently the victim of a “dooring” incident on Jan. 22 near Bedford Rd and Bloor St. West according to her Twitter feed and the Toronto Sun. Holden came away without any serious injuries and even seems to have maintained her sense of humour.

“I want to thank the driver and passengers for their care on Fri night. I know I can count on them to look out for bikes in future. #biketo” she tweeted on Jan. 24.

A day earlier, the message was: “Thank you all for your concern. I’m a bit achy and have a small bash between my eyes (from car door?) otherwise I’m all good. Keep cycling!” Her bicycle seems to have survived intact as well as per this tweet: “Went to pick up my trusty steed today. No damage. Thanks to @Toronto_Fire for locking it up so diligently. #biketo”

On the night of the incident, she tweeted “Been doored. Am in back of ambulance,” followed by a photo of inside a hospital with the caption: “Beat the Fri night rush in ER! Think I’m probably just concussed. Went over sideways, my head bounced coupla times.”
