by pedalmag.com
June 10, 2013 (Switzerland) – It has been reported that Canada’s Ryder Hesjedal (Garmin-Sharp) crashed at the Tour de Suisse about 50km from the finish of Stage 3, from Montreux to Meiringen, 203.3km, and was forced to abandon. According to tweets from Dan Jones, videographer for the Orica-GreenEdge squad who was present in the race caravan, Hesjedal was taken to hospital.

Jones tweeted that he saw Hesjedal down on the pavement on the side of the road when he drove by in the race caravan: “Drove past the crash and Hesjedal was on his back under a guard railing, crashed with some team mates. Hopefully he’s not too bad #tdsuisse.”

Jones also heard over the race radio that Hesjedal is definitely out of the race: “But Hesjedal is definitely out of the race, confirmed over race radio before.”

He also reported Hesjedal’s hospital visit via Twitter: “”They just reported they have taken Hesjedal to hospital, didn’t mention the injuries. #tdsuisse.”

We’ll have more on his condition as soon as it becomes available. Pedal joins the cycling community in wishing Ryder a speedy recovery.
