Health Net On Top Of NRC Standings

August 19, 2005 – USA Cycling has updated its NRC standings, and the new individual rankings show the Health Net Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis holding four of the top five spots on the individual standings, with Scott Moninger, Chris Wherry and Gord Fraser 1-2-3. Greg Henderson, on the strength of his excellent Tour de ‘Toona performance, moves up to 5th place. The only non-Health Net pb Maxxis rider in the top five is Aussie Karl Menzies (Advantage Benefits/Endeavour). Also, John Lieswyn held on to the 10th position, giving the team five top-10 riders. Justin England also moved up to 18th place with his strong ride at ‘Toona, while Ivan Dominguez hung onto the 20th spot.

Not surprisingly, with USAC’s new team standings being based on the accumulated points of each team’s top five riders, Health Net Presented by Maxxis (5,193) is comfortably on top of that category, holding a solid 2,380 point lead over Colavita/Sutter Home (2,813).

There’s another big one-day race this weekend, with the stars & stripes jersey for USPRO Criterium champion on the line Sunday in Downer’s Grove, IL. Health Net pb Maxxis will have a full, 10-rider team for the race. The weekend also includes a “warm-up” race on Saturday.
