Hardwood Ski and Bike Inc. Announces Retirement of Jack Sasseville

February 22, 2016 (Barrie, ON) – The Board of Directors of Hardwood Ski and Bike Inc. (Hardwood), one of Canada’s premier cross country ski and mountain bike resorts, announces the retirement of its President, General Manager and co- founder Jack Sasseville effective Oct. 13 (his 65th birthday) and the search for his replacement.  The Board expresses its gratitude and thanks Jack for his contribution to Hardwood over the many years of his leadership.

The Board has begun a process to identify a new President and General Manager for Hardwood.

The Board is seeking a person to lead the business, building upon the existing organization and facilities, and developing and executing on plans for the future. Preference will be given to candidates who exhibit leadership and management skills and experience in similar organizations. Knowledge of the cross country ski and mountain bike industry is important. The Board will also welcome discussions with candidates who are interested in investing in the business.

Hardwood is a cross-country ski and mountain bike resort with over 40 kilometers of ski trails, 11 kilometers of snowshoe trails and 80 kilometers of mountain bike trails that offer interesting terrain and a range of technical and aerobic difficulty, from beginner to expert. Hardwood offers skiers and bikers a full service retail, rental and repair shop, food service and a variety of programs for all ages and skill levels.

Hardwood also hosts major ski, snowshoe, duathlon, trail running, adventure racing, cyclo-cross and mountain bike races and events and was the site of the 2015 Pan Am Games mountain bike races.  The resort is located north of Barrie, Ontario, just off Highway 400, a 1-hour drive from Toronto, in the most consistent and abundant snow-belt in Southern Ontario.
