Hamilton Classic 2005 Update

May 18, 2005 (Niagara, ON) – This weekend the Ontario Cycling Association is proud to have the Niagara Hamilton Classic as the second stop of our SISU Road Ontario Cup Series. Classified as an Omnium points race, the first event (Sunday) will be a road race along Effingham Road on the outskirts of Pelham. The second event (Monday) will be a downtown criterium surrounding Hamilton’s City Hall.

Being an Omnium, riders will be permitted to DNF on Sunday and race on Monday. As always, any DNF rider must report to the commissaires. We trust our members will compete in good sportsmanship. O-Cup points will be based on GC for the two events. Therefore any DNF rider for either race will not be eligible for GC prizes or OCUP points.

The Niagara Hamilton Classic is pre-registration only. Riders can purchase One-Event Racing Permits (for selected categories) at the event provided they have pre-registered. Registration has been extended to 12 noon Thursday at www.canadiancyclist.com. Riders should remember their OCA numbers, as forgetful riders will be charged for new numbers. The road race will be used as a Canada Summer Games Selection event. See the OCA website for more details.

On another note, the criterium on Monday will feature a women’s only start. The minimum number needed for their own start is 30 and at press time, the number was in the mid 20’s .

Lastly, the SCCC would like to announce the Volunteer meeting and dinner will take place at Dom’s Pasta & Grill on Thursday night 7:30pm (Merritville Hwy just south of Brock University).

The OCA, the St. Catharines Cycling Club and our commissaires are looking forward to a great weekend of racing!
