June 05, 2014 (Gatineau, QC) – Some of the top women cyclists have gathered in Gatineau, QC for the Chrono Gatineau (ITT) 11.5km on June 6 and the 121.8km (12 x 10.15km) Grand Prix Cycliste Gatineau Hydro-Québec on June 7. Top teams include TIBCO to the Top, Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies, Specialized-lululemon, SAS-Mazda-Macogep p/b Specialized, Team TWENTY16 and others.
Some of Canada’s top riders at this UCI 1.1-sanctioned event include reigning TT/Road champ Joelle Numainville (Optum) and teammates Denise Ramsen and Leah Kirchmann, Jasmin Glaessar and Anika Todd from Tibco, Kristi Lay and Steph Roorda from SAS-Mazda, along with Lex Albrecht w/Team TWENTY16 plus former star Audrey Lemieux, riding for Team Quebec, is also slated to be on the start line this weekend in the road race.
Former winners at this 5th annual competition, that is one of a handful of top-level women’s races in North America, include multi-decorated Olympian Clara Hughes, former road world’s champ Giorgia Bronzini from Italy, and top pro rider Ina-Yoko Teutenberg (GER).
The action begins 11:30 am on June 6 with the TT while the marquee RR begins 10am on June 7. Sunday features Gran Fondo and Coupe de Quebec races – event schedule here.
