Gran Fondo Mont-Tremblant – Successful First Edition

release by Gran Fondo Mont-Tremblant

September 17, 2013 (Mont- Tremblant, QC) – This past Saturday, Sept. 14th, the first peloton of cyclists gathered in large numbers at 7:30am for the start of the first edition of the Gran Fondo Mont-Tremblant to discover the region’s roads and majestic scenery. Two courses were offered; a 125km distance, and the other 80km. These two routes joined the municipalities of Brébeuf, St- Rémi d’ Amherst, Huberdeau, Arundel, downtown Mont-Tremblant, before coming to an end at the Mont Tremblant Resort. The 125km course was notably challenging due to the elevation that the Laurentian region so kindly offers, reaching Val-des-Lacs, and ending on the famous Chemin Duplessis.

Cyclists enthusiastically participated in this friendly and non-competitive ride. Many commented on the breathtaking scenery of the courses and the high level of security with experienced pack leaders to guide the way. The first peloton of the 80 km ride surprised organisers by completing the course ahead of the scheduled time. The festive atmosphere and team spirit that prevailed throughout the day in addition to the sheer pleasure of riding together in groups will make this first edition a memorable one for years to come.

“Warm weather, cyclists motivated to ride together and an organisation with high standards all came together to contribute to the success of this first edition. It is with great pleasure that we introduce this new event open to all during this cycling weekend in Tremblant. I am very proud of the result and I am convinced the Gran Fondo Mont- Tremblant will become a staple in the region. The well maintained roads and the enchanting landscapes that the Laurentians have to offer as a cycling destination all contribute to this great success,” said Simon St-Arnaud, co-producer of the event.

The organizing committee is looking forward to the 2014 edition. The date of the second edition of the Gran Fondo Mont-Tremblant will be announced shortly!
