GF Mt Trem Logo image003 49December 01, 2015 (Mont-Tremblant) – With the ski season barely begun, plans for next year’s Gran Fondo Mont-Tremblant are already in the works. Registration is officially open for the fourth edition of the event, which takes place May 27 to 29, 2016.

Ranked #1 by the FQSC
The Gran Fondo Mont-Tremblant was voted best interprovincial open-to-all cycling event at the Mérite cycliste québécois gala of the Fédération québécoise des sports cyclistes (FQSC, Quebec’s federation of sports cyclists). “We see it as a well-deserved award and recognition for the GFMT. The event’s growing popularity shows how much people appreciate it, not just for the safety aspect but also the array of concurrent, fun activities. The vote was unanimous,” explained Louis Barbeau, general manager of the FQSC.

Improved Courses
Once again this year, the official courses are split into four rides of varying distances:
– The 160 km Super Fondo for competitive cyclists
– The 125 km Fran Fondo for experienced cyclists
– The 80 km Medio Fondo for intermediate to advanced cyclists
– The 45 km Molo Fondo for recreational cyclists

“The routes we’ve chosen and the distance of each course attract cyclists of all calibres. The formula is a winner. This year we plan to further enhance the experience for participants. Some portions of routes – for example, the ascent at Lac Quenouille and the area around Val-des-Lacs – are being reviewed to ensure the best possible conditions” said the producer of the Gran Fondo Mont-Tremblant, Simon St-Arnaud.

A Weekend-long Affair
A range of activities are planned, alongside the various cycling categories, for the three-day weekend. “Most of our participants and their families come and spend the entire weekend. We thought it quite natural to deliver a total experience – the love of cycling and a complete range of activities – in an atmosphere unlike any other,” noted Simon St-Arnaud.

A Growing Team
David Veilleux is joining Sébastien Delorme as an event ambassador. Veilleux, known for being the first Quebecer to participate in the Tour de France, will ride in the Tremblant event. The Gran Fondo Mont-Tremblant is also pleased to welcome DeVinci and Louis Garneau as new partners. The collaboration with Mazda Canada continues as event presenter, as well as with Desjardins Wealth Management, Clif Bar, Cyclepresse, Ville de Mont-Tremblant, Tourisme Mont-Tremblant and the Tremblant Resort Association.
