Giro d’Italia Stage 6 Results – Cav Dedicates First Win of the Giro the Late Weylandt

May 09, 2013 (Margherita di Savoia, Italy) – Mark Cavendish (Gbr) Omega Pharma-Quick Step took his first sprint win of the 2013 Giro d’Italia today on the 169km Stage 6 from Mola di Bari to Margherita di Savoia. Cavendish dedicated his victory to the late Belgian rider, Wouter Weylandt, who passed away tragically two years ago today due to complications following a crash during the Giro.

Elia Viviani (Ita) Cannondale Pro Cycling took second to Cavendish on today’s stage, followed by Matthew Goss (Aus) Orica-GreenEdge in third. Luca Paolini (Ita) Katusha remains in pink and Canada’s Ryder Hesjedal (Can) Garmin-Sharp is still in 5th overall.
