Gaspereau Valley Challenge 2006 – \’Maritime Superweek\’ Begins

July 11, 2006 — Nearly 100 cyclists from across Atlantic Canada, including several home-grown pros/semi-pros, converged on the Wolfville area Saturday to compete in the inaugural Gaspereau Valley Challenge.

As temperatures neared 30C on the hilly course, recent winner of the KOM competition at the prestigious Philadelphia International Championship, Dustin MacBurnie (Targetraining), from Truro, Nova Scotia, won the Senior Men’s event. Newfoundland’s Zach Garland(Espoirs Laval) finished a strong second, with Fredericton’s Brian McKeown(Radical Edge) rounding off the podium.

The Radical Edge team swept the Women’s top three, with Heather Lamson taking top honours. The Gaspereau Valley Challenge was the first race of ‘Maritime Superweek’, which culminates this weekend with the PEI BikeFest. Full results are available at
