Freak Accident Kills Toronto Area Cyclist

March 30, 2006 (Toronto, ON) – A Toronto area cyclist has been killed after losing control of his bike and falling 150 feet while crossing the Credit River in Mississauga yesterday. Early reports published in The Toronto Star indicated that the freak accident took the life of a 46 year old male who apparently sideswiped a pole, and was catapulted over the bridge on Burnhamthorpe Rd. W., about a kilometre west of Creditview Rd.

Peel Police Const. Kathy Weylie remarked “He lost control of the bike somehow, he then toppled over the side. He was on the sidewalk, on the north side heading westbound.” The name of the cyclist has yet to be released as next of kin have not yet been notified.
