December 10, 2011 – Simon Theriault, FQSC MTB technical director, will step down at the end of 2011. After six years of service to the Quebec Cycling Federation (FQSC), he will turn the page in both his professional and personal life and begin a new chapter.

Beginning in mid-January, Theriault will officially begin his new position in the department of recreation, sport and culture in the town of Forestville. This is also a homecoming for the North Shore native. A new dad, Theriault will also be closer to his family that resides there. It is also a return to the community that has given him so much in the past.

“The municipal sphere is an environment known to offer a lot of challenges. It is important to me to take this opportunity to give back to those who helped start me on my journey,” said Theriault.

It is with a sense of accomplishment that he embarks on this new adventure. “I humbly believe I helped to develop, in collaboration with the community, the form that mountain biking will become more or less long term. There is obviously more work to do, but I leave it to my colleagues to continue this work. They will certainly continue to advance the profile of cycling in the province,” added Theriault.

“I want to offer heartfelt thanks to all of those fans who contributed to the development of this wonderful discipline of mountain biking during my years at FQSC, and who will continue to do so,” he concluded.

“I thank Simon for years he gave to FQSC. This kind of job is demanding and Simon has always given the best of himself, thus contributing to the development of mountain biking in Quebec, as well as a successful FQSC in general. His departure creates a void, of course, that is important that we try to fill as soon as possible,” said FQSC Director General, Louis Barbeau.
