Forest City Six-Day – Final

April 10, 2006 – With the teams suffering through colds and the flu the Sixday race became an enudrance event for everyone to survive. It was unfortunate that there was so much flu going around, however it did not take away from the most competitive SixDay event of the winter season. Most Jams were 8 – 13 mijnutes in length, which means the riders were on the rivets trying to take a lap for that amount of time. All sprints and “Miss & Out” races were very close to call, competitive and safe.

Team Burlington (Garnett Abbey & Dave St. James) emerged as the winners of the race however they were very closely pursued by the London Team of (John Craig & Adam Thuss) and Team Delhi (Mike Reenboog, Eric Robertson & Taylor Martin). Burlington attacked the other teams every time the pace slowed, opening gaps of 30m at a time, in the last 3 days only London were able to stay on even terms with the fast duo from Burlington.

Team Vancouver (Keith Thorarison & Neil Dignam) were able to capture many of the Primes and points sprints throughout the race. It was very good to see the spectators step up and offer so many $50 & $100 Prizes over the week. All the riders were very thankfull for all of the Primes.

To all the London Track league riders who came out to perform at intermission a big thank you from the Organizer. In closing the race could not go on without the Volunteers who gave up their weekend to make sure our event was run without any delays, Thank You from all of the riders.

The next racing at the Forest City Velodrome is the Ontario Track Championships on April 21st – 23rd. Racing for all Ability Categories. Check or website at www.ForestCityVelodrome.ca for all of the up to date schedules and information.
