First Union USPRO Update

June 9, 2002. (Philadelphia, PA) – Everyone is back together. The lead
group is
made up of approximately 12 riders with two Canadians, Mark Walters
(Navigators) and Michael Barry (USPS).

There are only a few more hills,
the smaller Lemon Hill, and then the final mile-long finishing circuit.
The two Canadians will undoubtedly be working for their American teammates:
O’Bee (Navigators) and Hincapie (USPS). Other American favourites in the
group are Mark McCormack (Saturn) and Chann McRae (USPS). Henk Vogels
(Mercury) from Australia is there, and he is a former winner.

First Union USPRO Update

June 9, 2002. (Philadelphia, PA). The men’s race is almost halfway
finished.

Things should be heating up, as there is a break with Glenn
d’Hollander (Lotto-Adecco), Dylan Casey (US Postal), Eugene Wacker (Mroz),
Soren Petersen (Saturn) and Scott Moninger (Mercury), with almost a three
minute lead. However, if the race unfolds as it has in the past, that gap
will quickly be reduced as the big names and their teams begin to make the
race more aggressive. With 113 km to go, riders will complete four laps of
the larger Manayunk circuit, followed by 3 laps of the smaller Lemon Hill
circuit to finish.
