FCVA Hosts MS-Awareness and Velo-Kids Program

January 11, 2005 – The Forest City Velodrome will host a Fund-Raising 800 Lap Recreational ride for MS Awareness & our Velo-Kids Programs on Sunday, February 12, 2006.

Piers Davidge is organizing the ride which will be a structured Pyramid Style, with two teams of 8 riders. The ride should average 34 kph, over the 3 hours of training (riding). Music, refreshments, and door prizes will be available. The Fun will start at 10am and finish at 1pm.

Two groups of 8 riders riding a “To 10 lap pull and back” Pyramid

– Feeding/water during specified periods
– Good and loud music playing
– $25 per rider Or Pledge form

Must pre-register Contact Piers Davidge at Biopyhsto@aol.com

– Sign in and prep time starts at 10am
– Riding starts 10:45am
– Ending after just over three hours of riding
– Pace will start around 28-30km/hr & slowly increase to a steady 35km/hr
average speed is hoped to be 34km/hour

Bring friends and supporters to cheer the riders on 50/50 draws & Door prizes for riders and supporters

Guidelines
– Group of 8 riders on each side of track
– Each rider does a pull at the front starting at 1 lap each and building up to 10 and then back to 1 lap
– Each rider will pull for 100 laps and ride a total of 800 laps

– A rider can take a break but can only do this between their turns at the front
– This makes sure we get the full distance
– There will be planned food/drink and stretch breaks
– There will be lap counters for each team and the riders will wear numbers 1-8
– Pledge Sheets or entry fee due on the day of ride
