Event #1 of Maritime Superweek: Gaspereau Valley Challenge

July 3, 2006 — This is short notice, but Saturday, July 8 sees the ‘kickoff’ race of the ‘Some Good’ Week (!) of road racing in the Maritimes. The ‘Gaspereau Valley Challenge’, near Wolfville, Nova Scotia, will challenge riders on a 31 km circuit, with 1,300’ (400m) of climbing per lap, including 200′ at 22% grade !

With a few modifications, this will likely be the course for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, should Halifax win the bid to host the Games.

It will be a great race to watch, as well, as 2.5km of the course, flanking the Start/Finish area, will be closed to all traffic.

The race flyer is at:
