November 02, 2013 – As Cyclo-cross season is now in full swing, many riders have had the chance to compete almost every weekend since September 1st. It’s an exciting cycling discipline that is taking over the fall months around Canada. Being a local of the Okanagan Valley, I’ve been lucky enough to watch the sport grow & shape into a full Interior Series. That said local CX events may be the most fun to attend; watching all types of abilities show up, participate, and have giant smiles while your friends heckle you is what makes this sport so enjoyable.

Tip#1 – The best tip I have ever been given was to have FUN and everything else will be great! That is what CX events bring to the table.

Tip#2 – If you have yet to attend a race then I would highly recommend checking one out. There are series all over BC, for all levels of abilities. Mountain bikes are also welcome if a CX bike is not yet in your bike garage. I did say not yet because once you try it there is a very high chance you’ll be hooked!
Tip#3 – ‘Cross events also be the best way to stay fit in the fall season, as you don’t have to spend hours suffering in the wet and cold. You can race on the weekends & get the best workout possible with the most fun one can have.
Tip#4 – My last piece of advice would be learning how to take a hand-up. Since that is a whole new topic,  just search it on the internet. Enjoy the fall!
