June 9, 2008 – On June 21-22nd weekend I will be participating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer as part of my 20th anniversary celebration. Cancer has touched all of our lives in some form or another. On a very personal note I have lost my sister-in law Desiree D’Ornellas who supported my racing career in a very big way as well as my Mom who battled and died of Stomach Cancer.In the last 2 years alone many of our own D’Ornellas Club Members have been battling this terrible disease.

This year I really wanted to find a meaningful way of giving back and doing it in combination with my real passion-bikes and biking. Every pedal stroke of this ride will be in memory of my Mother,my Sister-in Law and all of our cycling friends who have lost their battle with Cancer or who are currently still in the fight.

I know most of you receive letters of donation on a regular basis because I do too so I understand how it might be a challenge to answer to mine.
