Elderly Peterborough Cyclist Assaulted in Road Rage Incident Captured on Video

July 21, 2017 (Peterborough, ON) – In a shocking and disturbing incident of road rage caught on video, a 74-year-old cyclist was beaten by a pickup driver with a weapon described as a “small club” in an incident near Peterborough as reported by Global News.

According to a Peterborough Police news release, on July 19 at approximately 8 a.m. the cyclist was riding his bike along Erskine Avenue in the same area as the driver when an argument ensued.

“During the argument the victim was assaulted and struck several times with a small club,” the report stated. “Witnesses intervened and stopped the assault. The male suspect then left the area in his truck.”

Media reports indicate the victim was bleeding from his head. Police and EMS attended the scene and the victim was transported via ambulance to a local hospital for treatment to his injuries.

At 12:15 the same day, Peterborough Police attend the residence of the suspect. David Fox, 65, of Peterborough has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 24.
