Dominique Perras To Represent Canada at Commonwealth Games

January 27, 2006 (Montreal, Quebec) – Dominique Perras has been officially selected to represent Canada in the road race at the Commonqealth Games, March 26, 2006 in Melbourne, Australia.

The Canadian Cycling Association announced Tuesday the names of the Canadian team at the event, which will also include François Parisien, Svein Tuft, Gord Fraser, Geoff Kabush and Martin Gilbert.

In addition, the UCI contacted Perras this week to announce that he is the new Oceania continental points leader for the UCI, following his second place at the Herald Sun Tour last October. Australian Simon Gerrans, who was leading the standings, has signed for a Pro Tour squad, making him ineligible for the continental ranking. As a result, Perras will be in a position to wear the continental standings leader jersey in races on that continent.

Perras’ season kicks off February 19 at the Tour of California, where he will compete alongside his KodakGallery.com/Sierra Nevada teammates.
