August 22, 2006 — As reported on CBC a cyclist was killed by a hit-and-run driver on yesterday near Montreal. The incident happened on Lakeshore Blvd on Ile Bizard and apparently the motorist was driving a stolen vehicle at the time.

The victim, a 43-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Initially authorities were unable to establish her identity until the woman’s husband, realizing her absence, went looking for her and came upon the accident scene by chance. A suspect in his 20s was apprehended in nearby Sainte Genevieve.
