April 24, 2009 (Liege, Belgium) – Today, for the first time in four years, presidents and top representatives from Association International Groupe Cycliste Professionelle (AIGCP), Union Cycliste International (UCI), and the Association of Race Organizers (AIOCC) met in Liege, Belgium, to discuss how the three organizations can work together to unify cycling.

The meeting, called by Jonathan Vaughters, newly-elected president of the AIGCP and attended by Pat McQuaid, president of the UCI, Christian Prudhomme, director of the Tour de France, and other top representatives, marks the first significant step toward creating a stable and credible future for cycling.

As a result, the group has committed to ongoing monthly meetings, each of which will focus on critical items affecting the future of the sport including the bio-passport and entry into key events.

Joint Statement
We had a very productive meeting and we are committed to continuing to work together to improve the stability and credibility of cycling. Today was an excellent first step.
