January 14, 2016 (Milton, ON) – Cycling Canada and the Ontario Cycling Association (OCA) are pleased to announce that Milton will be hosting the 2016 Eastern Challenge for U17 and junior track cyclists.

The Eastern Challenge is a national level track cycling event for development categories. The goal is to provide an additional racing opportunity in preparation for the Canadian Track Championships (Milton, April 1-3, 2016) and the opportunity for athletes to measure themselves to riders from other provinces.

The event will take place on February 13, 2016, in conjunction with the OCA’s O-Cup #3. Although the Eastern Challenge program is composed of events for U17 and Junior riders, there will also be events for elite and master riders as part of the O-Cup #3.

The Quebec provincial team has already confirmed that they intend to participate in the event at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre. Registration is open to track cyclists from all provinces, but fields will be capped due to track capacity and scheduling restrictions. Elite & Master riders: priority will be given to Ontario residents, as it is the case for other O-Cup events.

More information about registration and the technical guide of the event will be available soon on the OCA and Cycling Canada’s websites. Registration is set to open on Wednesday, January 20, 2016.
