Cycling BC’s Evening of Champions Fundraiser a Huge Success + PHOTOS

October 10, 2014 (Vancouver, BC) – Cycling luminaries and legends from all disciplines both past and present, gathered yesterday evening for the second annual Evening of Champions Cycling BC gala fundraiser at Vancouver’s Convention Centre, presented by Painted Rock Winery and Strada Cycles, to share a glass and support youth development in British Columbia.

Many financial sponsors and supporters of the sport in B.C. from the private sector were also on hand to rub shoulders with the stars that included two-time MTB World Champion Catharine Pendrel, Tour de France rider Christian Meier, Olympian Zach Bell, BMX star Tory Nyhaug and Women’s Team Pursuit medalists Laura Brown, Jasmin Glaesser, and Steph Roorda.

Also on hand were former Omnium World Champion Tara Whitten (who suggested a possible comeback after she finishes her PhD), women’s mountain biking past greats Lesley Tomlinson and Chrissy Du Val (formerly Redden), along with NHL start Trevor Linden who is an avid cyclist.

According to Cycling BC, about $120,000 was raised through plate sales, live auction, and a silent auction, which featured a signed rainbow jersey from Pendrel and a historic jersey from Alex Steida – former Tour de France yellow jersey and polka dot jersey wearer.
