January 8, 2009 – Here is the latest news from the Cycling BC headquarters, including the release of the 2009 BC road and MTB calendars and information about local sport development funding opportunities from 2010 Legacies Now. Read on for more details.

Please be aware that these calendars are subject to change. Both BC Cup Series will be announced shortly, and the Track and Cyclocross calendars will be made available later in the year.

Local Sport Development Funding Available
2010 Legacies Now is dedicated to strengthening arts, literacy, sport and recreation, physical activity, accessibility and volunteerism in communities throughout BC. The Local Sport Program Development Fund will provide up to $2,500 to support new sport participation opportunities initiated in BC communities. Applications are now being accepted for the second round of funding. Submissions that were not funded in the first intake period will automatically be considered in January. The deadline for applications is January 15, 2009. Applications may be submitted, individually or in partnership, by community sport organizations, municipalities, or Aboriginal communities. The Local Sport Development Fund is supported by the Province of BC through the Ministry of Healthy Living and Sport.
