Curt Harnett Appointed to Canadian Sport Institute Ontario Board Of Directors

November 23, 2016 (Toronto, ON) – Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) is pleased to announce three new members appointed to its Board of Directors – Curt Harnett, Jessica Catton Rinaldi, and Nancy J. Spotton.

Curt Harnett is a three-time Olympic Medalist and four-time Olympian from the sport of track cycling. Named Chef de Mission for Team Canada at the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games and the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Curt’s leadership and dedication to high performance sport and supporting Canadian athletes is unparalleled.

Jessica Catton Rinaldi is a corporate lawyer with years of experience in advising boards on key areas such as transactional matters and governance issues. Jessica’s strong leadership skills also include being the founding President and former director of Young Women in Law.

Nancy J. Spotton joins the Board of Directors with over 20 years of business and strategy leadership expertise. Nancy is currently developing top Millennial talent in the Sport & Event Post Graduate program at George Brown College.

The new Directors join a group of distinguished experts in high performance sport and business excellence on the CSIO Board of Directors, including:

  • Chris Rudge (Chair), Executive Chairman & CEO of the Toronto Argonauts Football Club
  • Kathryn Ann Giffen (Secretary), Chair of Women’s College Hospital
  • Lou Ragagnin (Treasurer), Chief Operating Officer of ole
  • Ian Gordon (Director), Senior Vice President of Loblaw Brands Limited
  • Dr. Scott Thomas (Director), Professor – Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education, University of Toronto

Curt Harnett – Director
Curt Harnett is a three-time Olympic Medalist and four-time Olympian from the sport of cycling. The former world record holder is a sports marketing consultant and communications specialist who was the Chef de Mission for Team Canada at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Jessica Catton Rinaldi – Director
Jessica Catton Rinaldi is a partner at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP where she is engaged in a broad corporate law practice. Jessica has experience in advising boards and board special committees on transactional matters as well as governance issues. Jessica was the founding President and is a former director of Young Women in Law, a not for profit aimed at supporting young women in the legal profession and providing young female lawyers an opportunity to network and give back to their communities. Jessica holds a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business.

Nancy J. Spotton – Director
Nancy J. Spotton is a relentless optimist that has made a career out of challenging the status quo. She has a strategic agility to see and connect the objectives. Fiercely dedicated to helping people succeed and building better leaders, after 20+ years of working with some of Canada’s best companies, she is currently honoured to be a developer of top Millennial talent in the Sport & Event Post Graduate program at George Brown College. An intense passion for learning and focused on honing her coaching talents, she is also completing her MA(Leadership) from the University of Guelph.
