\’Cross Fest In Quebec On Thanksgiving

September 26, 2005 – Want to make sure you really work hard for that Thanksgiving Turkey? Tired of loafing about on the couch dreaming of pumpkin pie for three whole days? Can’t get enough of the cyclocross season? Then come and cyclocross your heart out in the Quebec Region for a weekend of muddy fun. All cyclocrossers, whether rookies or veterans are invited to participate in races October 8th and 9th. The leaves promise to be full of colour, the courses fast and furious, and there’s even Belgian waffles on the menu!

Race # 1 will take place in the village Mont Sainte-Anne, the internationally renowned alpine ski and mountain bike centre. A technical course drawing heavily on cross-country mountain bike skills will initiate the weekend’s festivities. Cyclo cross riders should expect thrills, spills, and crowds as village visitors and fellow ‘crossers take in breath-taking autumn sights and athletic feats! After the race, take advantage of various events planned for the La Grande Virée des Couleurs, the traditional autumn festival at Mont Sainte-Anne. Rumour has it that genuine Belgian waffles will be grilled-up on site!

Race # 2 on October 9 will bring racers to Montmorency Falls Park. Perched high upon the cliffs overlooking the Saint-Lawrence river, this site boasts a spectacular view in addition to its inaugural fast and varied cyclocross course. The location as well of this summer’s Quebec International Fireworks Competition, the Park is only a short ten minutes from downtown Quebec City, providing racers, their families, and friends with a great opportunity to visit the Old Port, the Musée des Beaux Arts, or other historical attractions after the race.

Also taking place in downtown Quebec City’s Grand Allée will be a 5pm to 7pm party for participating cyclocrossers at the ‘happening’ resto-bar, Le Cosmos.

All events are sanctioned by the FQSC (Federation des Sports Cyclistes) – Masters, Seniors and Junior riders are welcome. Attend for one race, or both and spend the weekend on two wheels in Quebec !
