March 5, 2011 (Vancouver, BC) – Congratulations to Lisa and Alistair Howard on the birth of their son, Alexander David on February 27, who weighed in at 8lbs 7oz. The proud parents are excited to report their son has long femurs, which bodes well for his future cycling career, along with his obviously good genetics.

Lisa (née Sweeney) and Alistair are longtime fixtures on the road cycling circuit. Lisa won the Western Canada Summer Games women’s road race in Prince Albert, SK in 1999, where she met her future husband, Alistair (who won the men’s road race).

Since then, through engineering and science undergrads, followed by a Masters thesis and Medical School, the duo has continued competing on the bike. Lisa piloted a tandem for Team Canada’s Shawn Marsolais at the 2004 Paralympic Summer Games in Athens and participated with the National Team on projects, such as the grueling Tour de l’Aude.

As a junior and U23, Alistair competed in Europe with the National Team and has since been a force to be reckoned with on the BC circuit. Both Lisa and Alistair hold Junior National Track Cycling Championship titles from 1997.

Pedalmag.com would like to wish the Howards all the best!
