Congratulations – Hincapie Celebrates a New Baby Boy

June 25, 2008 (Girona, Spain) – George Hincapie (High Road) announced that he and wife, Melanie, are celebrating the birth of their new baby boy born on June 20, 2008 in Girona, Spain. Enzo Hincapie and his mother are both resting comfortably according to a note Hincapie posted at www.georgehincapie.com

Hincapie, who has a birthday himself on June 29, turns 35 this year. A five-time Olympian, he rode as a domestique for Lance Armstrong helping him to win seven Tour de France races. “Big George” finished 24th at the 2007 edition of the TdF and in 2005 he finished second at Paris-Roubaix, the highest placing ever for an American rider. Canada’s Michael Barry is a team mate of Hincapie and two are friends and train regularly together. So far in 2008 Hincapie has won stage seven at the Tour of California and stage two at the Dauphiné Libéré. Hincapie is married to former Tour de France podium girl, Melanie Simonneau, and they also have a daughter 2004.

Team High Road recently inked a deal with Columbia Sportswear and the team will be known as Team Columbia debuting at the Tour de France on July 5. Hincapie writes on his web site that the team will be showing off their new jerseys around July 1st.
