Commonwealth Games Track Day 1 Results, PHOTOS – Canadian Men’s Team Pursuit and Team Sprint Race for Bronze UPDATED

July 24, 2014 (Glasgow, Scotland) – The Canadian Men’s Team Pursuit squad consisting of Zach Bell, Aiden Caves, Remi Pelletier-Roy, and Ed Veal qualified 4th to make the final against New Zealand for the bronze medal on Day 1 of the track competitions at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

In Men’s Sprint action Canada’s Hugo Barrette (15th), Vincent De Haitre (17th) and Joseph Veloce (19th) did not advance to the rounds. In the Men’s Team Sprint Canada’s Hugo Barrette, Joseph Veloce and Vincent De Haître made the final for bronze after qualifying fourth.

In the Team Pursuit final New Zealand caught Canada for the bronze while Australia took the gold over England setting a new Games record as well. Canada’s Team Sprint squad also finished 4th behind Australia as New Zealand bested England in the final for gold.

Overall is was a solid day for Canada’s new Team Pursuit and Team Sprint squads to make the medal rounds at their debut on the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome track at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
