Colnago Celebrates 50th Anniversary

The name Colnago is synonymous with one of the most well-known, well-crafted bicycle frames in the world. Colnagos are known for a classic look typified by the Colnago emblem, beautiful stripes and swirls, and colour schemes that make them like no other bike: the “Colnago decor.”

Its namesake comes from the now-legendary Ernesto Colnago, who was a professional cyclist when younger. He eventually went on to be a mechanic for the famous Molteni team that was led by Eddy Merckx. In Cambiago, Italy, Ernesto Colnago began his bicycle company. Although he was born into a farming company, bikes were always his dream and passion. Colnago has an incredible relationship over the years with professional teams and riders, sponsoring over 100 pro teams, 2,000 pro racers, and 5,000 victories over the past 30 years.

This year alone, the company sponsors the Dutch Rabobank team, Colnago-Landbouwkrediet squad, the American Navigators team, the Japanese Nippon Hodo team, and the Canadian RONA-Esker team, among others.

Colnagos have always been on the forefront of technology and beauty. Whether carbon, steel, or aluminum, the bikes have an aesthetic appeal that makes them instantly recognizable. This is Colnago's 50th anniversary and, as such, the company has unveiled a 50th anniversary bike to commemorate this milestone which was on display at the Hamilton 2003 Road Worlds which Colnago sponsored as the Official Bike. Bravo and congratulations!
