January 10, 2008 (Ebikon, Sui) – Next week in Portugal, the men and women of CervÃ©lo TestTeam will start their first training camp together at the Robinson Club Quinta da Ria in the Algarve. The club, located along the beautiful east coast of the Algarve, offers the ideal conditions for optimal training for the teams to prepare for the upcoming cycling season.
As well as the training camp, the unique team of 25 men and 12 women will be presented to the public for the first time on Saturday, January 17. On Sunday, the event will continue with the official CervÃ©lo TestTeam Launch at 11.00h with all the athletes including last year’s Tour de France winner Carlos Sastre (ESP), the top sprinter Thor Hushovd (NOR) and the Olympic Time Trial Champion Kristin Armstrong (USA). Eight of the bike industry’s thought leaders – CervÃ©lo, Zipp, Zivit, Speedplay, Vittoria, 3T, Rotor Bike Components and fi’zi:k and Castelli have put a new spin on professional cycling and product innovation with the formation of the CervÃ©lo TestTeam. Though the arrivals of 2008 Tour de France winner Carlos Sastre and sprint ace Thor Hushovd leave no doubt about the performance level of the team, racing success is not the team’s only goal. Of equal importance to the partners in this project, is the involvement of the CervÃ©lo TestTeam riders in product development and technical feedback. Last but not least, riders will participate in activities with customers, making the sport more accessible to cycling fans.
