Cervelo Launches New S5 at Domestique Cafe

by Chris Redden

July 28, 2011 (Dundas, ON) – Cervelo recently announed the launch of their new model, the S5 at Domestique Cafe in Dundas, Ont. The stealth looking bike was a non-stickered model for the preview (decals will be added later of course).

The bike features a new design that positions the rear wheel into the frame, as well as a completely different head tube design.  All of the tubes have been reshaped for minimum air turbulance. The entire bike is designed to go faster than any of their previous models.

The numbers speak for themselves – aerodynamic savings over Cervélo’s S3:
– 36.8 seconds over 40k
– 0.92 seconds per kilometer
– 92 grams of drag
– 9.2 watts of power savings

All of this adds up to a faster (if that’s possible) Cervelo bike. The S5 was ridden by Garmin-Cervelo’s Thor Hushovd at the Tour de France where he wore the yellow jersey for more than a few days and won two stages while riding this bike – proof enough that this is one fast machine. More on the S5 soon.
